The British Ski and Board Show at NEC

Emily and I are going on a Snowboarding holiday to Tignes in France with her family in March 2013. Emily has been several times before but I've never been. I'm really looking forward to getting stuck in, but a little bit nervous too! We decided to visit the British Ski + Board Show at the NEC in Birmingham to get us in the mood. It was held 26th-28th October.

I'm planning to try and buy a Snowboarding jacket and trousers from TK Maxx as a few people have told me they do ideal clothes made by good brands for great prices. It was good to try on a few bits and pieces though and I've got my eye on a few things, including this Vans jacket:

We enjoyed the Monarch air display show on the giant indoor ramp. Give me long enough and I'll be doing forward flips on a snowboard for sure! A large number of the exhibitors at the show were snow clothing companies, along with holiday companies. I've been to similar shows before where they have put much more effort into the overall feel of the show including the appearance. This event did feel a bit like a market with little effort put into appearance or any nice finishing touches.

We also enjoyed the Animal Bike Tour [photo taken from their website], which I had seen before when working at an event at Thorpe Park in August. They do crazy stunts with mountain bikes and BMXs, along with a guy doing parkour. The compere really brings it all together with great commentary. It was even more impressive at this event as it was in quite a confined space. Check out their website for some great videos.

Overall it was a pleasant afternoon and worth the £11.50 ticket price for the event.
